My current plan is to heat mash water in the Foundry and mash about 10 lbs of 2-row in a cooler BIAB style. To find the amount of liquid left in the Anvil, just add water to above the drain valve and then open the valve. (.1 gallon /pound is a good starting point) Make adjustments if needed after a couple of batches. The amount of water absorbed per pound of grain will be as consistent as the amount of time you allow the malt pipe to drain after sparging. With the Anvil and other all in one systems your boiloff will be very consistent, because you're heat source is constant. Total water needed - strike water volume = sparge volume. Boil volume + grain absorption = total water needed. I just did my 7th brew in the Anvil Foundry 10.5 and like others I have abandoned the malt pipe. Post boil volume + boiloff = boil volume. Batch size + amount left in Anvil = post boil volume. As an example: bottling/kegging volume + amount left in fermenter (and bottling bucket if you use one) = batch size.
